Cha Publications Launch Event
The opening of Cha publication’s launch event was a pleasant evening where I captured guests enjoying the food, music, community, and of course the publication that Remi and Srinivas created together with the help of their 27 talented artists.
On Thursday 27 October 2022, Brown Leaders & Makers Exist (BL&ME) launched its first publication, Cha.
Co-editors and PhD candidates at Chelsea College of Arts, Remi Rana-Allen and Srinivas Surti, posed the question ‘what does Brownness mean to you?’, asking artist-researchers from around the world to contemplate this evolving mode of cultural identification in relation to its representation in arts and culture. The 27 high-quality contributions from Cha’s creative community is testament to the ever-growing need to acknowledge complex historical truths, their contemporary legacies and look towards reforming ideas of what is and is not visible.
